Not many people walk in LA, unless you’re British, or homeless. Being car-less meant that I got to see
a lot more of the landscape then perhaps you would if you were driving around. One warm, balmy
afternoon I took a wander around Santa Monica. Heading east and away from the beach (not an easy
decision), I stumbled across this public library. The branch name is done typographically in a similar way
to the shoe repair on Main Street (and many other LA locations) but it’s the script on the outside of the
building that is just gorgeous.

Then I found this in a thrift store – it’s from an old library copy of Ernest Hemingway’s Short Stories.
The reason I parted with all of 99 cents, was because of these amazing cards inside. I’m not alone in
my love of old books, but when I find something like this in them, it’s like it's a special treat just for m
e.
